Kay, Doug and I arranged my trip to Paris two monthes in advance. The timing was constrained because I needed to leave after my final exams, but also early enough to not interfere with summer internships. A few weeks later I received and accepted an offer from Plexus, and my starting date was largely left up to me. My last final was for Hybrid Embedded Systems, which was actually a final presentation detailing our final project: an Enigma Machine.

Two days after a successful presentation, on Saturday May 13, I left for Paris. Leaving my house at 6:30, I traveled from Denver International Airport to Chicago's O'Hare airport, and then on to Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport. The international flight took 8 hours. My window seat allowed me to view both the clouds over Greenland and the clouds over London, which were remarkably interesting. Since it seemed like the mid afternoon to me, I could not sleep but instead played logic puzzles and read my Paris guide book. I arrived on Sunday May 14 at 9:30am.

This is the outside of my hotel, the Hotel mon Reve Amadeus. Only a few of the windows shown are part of the hotel. Most of the rooms border the alleyway on the left of the picture, including mine.

This IS Paris, so you should have expected it to be tiny. I looked in a "double" room, which had a bed twice as large, but no desk!

The window overlooks an alleyway, but I liked having the window open anyway.

The travel time from my house to Paris was 15 hours.
